In keeping with a Thanksgiving tradition of me posing oddly with turkeys, above is the finished turkey. After 12 hours in a brine, wrestling with me for 45 minutes (I am a poor trusser), and two and a half hours in the oven, the bird was juicy and flavorful. Carving was a bit dicey, though I did well with the breasts, the thighs were pretty well mangled.
I failed to shoot any photos of the myriad side dishes brought by my friends. It was all pretty magnificent and the whole event was a quality effort by all.
Somehow, less than an hour after my guests have left, the dishes are done. These represent about eight percent of the total mass of dishes:
Remaining:
- 1/2 Pumpkin cheesecake
- 1/2 Apple pie
- 14 c mashed potatoes
- 3.25 lbs. turkey
- 1 c roast squash
- 5 Brussel sprouts
- 1.3 loaves of bread
- 4 c stuffing
Leftovers, anyone?

And a pint of Rum Cranberries because we forgot to put them out. So sad.
If it helps, I've enjoyed the rum cranberries twice with my leftovers. Yum.
