i'm so "aware"
This Slate article on "awareness" bracelets sent me to a site that provides some useful information when trying to be more aware. It has a handy list of all the things about which we need to be more aware, and corresponding bracelet color. Of course, with some much about which to be aware, there is a good deal of overlap. For instance, blue represents education, child abuse and interstitial cystitis (among other things).
What else would you expect from a website called AwarenessDepot.com?

I don't even know what some of the things on this list are. For instance, two of the things that grey is for are vacterl and yopa. What the hell are those? Then for the color green there is the Genocide in the Sudan. Now if I wear a green ribbon, do I support the Genocide or am I against it or do I support the survivors or what? Then there's the color red. I'm all for the normal AIDS/HIV support that is normally associated with it, but it also is the color for DARE. I don't support DARE, so what is a girl to do?
